ALI Certified Lift Inspection
ALI Automotive Lift Inspections
Purpose — It ensures lifts are safe, properly maintained, and compliant with national safety standards to prevent accidents, injuries, or equipment failures.
Requirement
ANSI/ALI ALOIM (the U.S. national standard for lift operation, inspection, and maintenance) mandates annual inspections by a qualified inspector. Many regions, OSHA references, insurance policies, and jurisdictions also require or recommend it.
Who Performs It
Only ALI Certified Lift Inspectors are independently tested and qualified to inspect any lift (regardless of brand, model, age, or type). They follow standardized procedures, often including the "Check360" comprehensive process, and affix a serialized label to passing lifts as proof of inspection.
What It Involves
A thorough check of structural, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and safety components (up to 120+ points depending on the lift), plus review of training logs and documentation. Lifts are typically loaded and operated during the inspection.
